SPREADING THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

LGEF's Monthly Purpose

Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation needs your help!

We are responding to an urgent need in our community for baby diapers (size 4 or 5), baby shampoo, and baby wipes.  Can you help us provide these items to those in need?  If so, please consider adding a package or two to your normal grocery list.  Then drop off the donation on the rear screened in porch located at 179 Harrison Avenue (corner of Harrison and Harding) in Fair Haven by Monday, August 30th.  From there, we will do the rest.

Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation (LGEF)

Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation (LGEF)  is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2009 by a group of neighbors in Fair Haven, NJ.  Their mission is to raise awareness of those around us – our fellow neighbors – that are in need of assistance.  Just as a lifeguard sits on his stand and actively searches for those in need, such is the purpose of LGEF.  Over the past year, they have organized events (such as neighborhood barbecues and multi-family yard sales) that have raised funds for food gift cards, overdue utility bills, excessive medical bills, and expensive life-dependent medications.  Each month, they are committed to finding a local family in need and hosting a fundraising event to benefit that family.  These acts of goodwill have assisted families with young children in a spectrum of ways; for example, in September 2009 a multi-family yard sale raised the necessary funds to pay an overdue utility bill for a Fair Haven family which, coupled with other organizations’ and individuals’ generosity, helped to secure safe and clean housing for this otherwise homeless family of 7.  They also do more than just donate monetarily.

They volunteer their time, skills, and resources at such local organizations as the Cub Scouts.  Their ultimate hope is to spread a spirit of giving, encouraging other friends and neighbors to add a philanthropic element to their lives and to their community - not just over the holidays, but every day.

In addition to our chosen Charity, we donate $500 to Rumson's, Fair Haven's, Little Silver's, and Shrewsbury's Emergency Services.  We appreciate all your hard work at keeping us safe.  Thank you!

TouchaTruck/184_8458.JPG

Our first charity event of the season is Touch A Truck.  It is the 3rd annual Touch A Truck and we are looking forward to build on last year’s success. This is a fun day for the whole family and your little ones will love being able to get up close with all types of trucks.  Children will be allowed to touch, climb and ask questions about their favorite trucks or vehicles and yes, even honk the horns (parents bring your ear plugs!) all within a safe and supervised environment.

In addition to the vehicles there will be food, balloons, face painting and much more.

Our 2009-2010 season raised $18,660 for the Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center  (MCCAC)    friendsofmccac.org
The Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center serves as a safe, child-friendly facility for the victims of child abuse, neglect, and assault and their caregivers.
This one centralized facility co-locates the professionals who provide the law enforcement, mental health, medical, victim advocacy and prosecutorial services, resulting in a more coordinated response and investigation into reports of child abuse.  The children need only travel to one location to tell their story, greatly reducing their trauma and stress.
